The rock band Queen
played their first ever concert in the city of Truro, Cornwall, a
rural/maritime area in the far
south-west of the UK. During 1970-1971 Queen played more than ten other gigs
in the area. During 1968 and 1969
they also performed in Cornwall as 'Smile', the band that preceded Queen.
Queen went on to become, worldwide,
the 5th highest-selling recording artists of all time, behind the Beatles,
Elvis, ABBA and Michael Jackson.
'Queen in Cornwall' is
a local history project involving research and documentation of these early
concerts, and all the music and musicians involved.
