The chough is a bird
that is endangered in many parts of the world.
It is used as an emblem of
Cornwall, a county in the far South West of the UK, and it appears on the
county coat of arms.
In fact in Cornwall it died out
completely for many years.
'The Chough Project' was made
as a site-specific video projection for the Cathedral in Truro, Cornwall. It
consists of a chough rendered in negative so it appears as a ghost, or a
dove. The inversion of its colour in the context of a Cathedral also alludes
to morality, and its association with light and darkness.
